The French Handball Federation and Butagaz Renew and Strenghten Their Partnership
Since 2017, Butagaz has been committed to supporting the French Handball Federation (FFHandball) and the French national teams, fostering the development of both professional and amateur handball. In 2019, through this partnership, Butagaz became the first title sponsor of a women’s national league in France, the Ligue Butagaz Énergie. This historic naming reflects Butagaz's dedication to women's sports. These fruitful partnerships will continue until 2028 for the French women's, men's, and youth teams, and until 2029 for the Ligue Butagaz Énergie.
Over the past eight years, Butagaz has consistently pioneered new initiatives to promote handball in all its forms. This includes becoming the first title sponsor of a women’s national league with Ligue Butagaz Énergie and supporting amateur handball through the #AuPlusPrèsDesClubs initiative. Committed to enhancing the visibility and growth of handball across France, Butagaz also participates in the “Incroyable Tournée” organized by FFHandball, aimed at promoting diversity in the sport’s practices.

These successful partnerships, extended until 2028 and 2029, are further enriched as Butagaz becomes the first major partner of the French Wheelchair Handball Team. This move highlights its unique approach to sponsorship, placing responsibility and gender equality at the core of its commitments.
Butagaz's focus on parasports began a few months ago with the inclusion of five clubs with wheelchair handball sections among the winners of the fourth edition of the #AuPlusPrèsDesClubs initiative. Since 2021, this program has recognized 130 amateur clubs and supported 3,000 players, showcasing Butagaz's dedication to inclusivity and grassroots sports development.
Philippe BANA, President of the French Handball Federation (FFHandball):
"The FFHandball is proud to count on a partner like Butagaz to promote handball in all its forms. Since 2017, Butagaz has supported the Federation, the French national teams, and the Women’s Handball League in their development. This strengthened partnership, with Butagaz becoming a major partner of the French Wheelchair Handball Team, is a fantastic opportunity to champion inclusivity and the diverse ways handball can be practiced."
Natacha CAMBRIELS, President of Butagaz: "I am delighted to continue the wonderful journey between Butagaz and the French Handball Federation that began in 2017. Our French national teams have brought us incredible emotions over the past few years, and the entire company and its employees will continue to share in their passion. We will also keep celebrating the teams and players of the Ligue Butagaz Énergie, shining a spotlight on women's sports and their achievements. It is a great honor to become the first partner of the French Wheelchair Handball Team. This initiative is fully aligned with our CSR roadmap and strengthens the actions we’ve been supporting since 2021, particularly through our commitment to amateur handball. We are proud to champion all forms of handball, both professional and amateur."
Xavier ODDONE, Managing Director of SPORTFIVE France: "At SPORTFIVE, we are proud to support the renewal of this collaboration, which highlights both professional handball and its inclusive and amateur dimensions.
